Pianist Andrew Yiangou is known for his deep commitment to both the core classical repertoire and the works of lesser-known composers. Alongside mainstream works, he has long been drawn to figures such as Charles-Valentin Alkan, Nikolai Kapustin, Leopold Godowsky, Nikolai Medtner, Georgy Catoire, and Sergei Lyapunov.
Andrew has performed at leading UK venues including the Royal Festival Hall, Cadogan Hall, Steinway Hall, St James’s Piccadilly, St Lawrence Jewry, St Barnabas Ealing, and St Mary’s Perivale. His international appearances have taken him to the USA, Serbia, Greece, the Netherlands, Norway, Germany, Belgium, Spain, France, and Poland.
A graduate of the Royal College of Music, Andrew studied with Norma Fisher, Vanessa Latarche, and Gordon Fergus-Thompson, and was awarded multiple scholarships, including support from the Tillett Trust and Eileen Rowe Musical Award Trust. He was also the recipient of the prestigious Mills Williams Junior Fellowship.
His competition successes include prizes at the 3rd Gershwin International Piano Competition (New York), the Bromsgrove International Competition, the Norah Sande Award, the WPTA International Piano Competition (Novi Sad), the International Piano Festival Poros (Greece), and the 19th Petar Konjović International Piano Competition (Belgrade). He was selected to appear in the International Franz Liszt Piano Competition in Utrecht in both 2020 and 2022.
Andrew has worked with celebrated artists including Robert Levin, Ya-Fei Chuang, Stephen Hough, Lang Lang, Charles Owen, Kathryn Stott, Peter Jablonski, and Boaz Sharon. He has also collaborated with members of the Elias, Callino, Cherubini, Bardolino, and Heine Quartets, and performed with orchestras such as the Ealing Youth Orchestra, Ealing Symphony Orchestra, City of Rochester Symphony Orchestra, Bedford County Youth Orchestra, and Dorking Philharmonia.
