Szymon Nehring, Piano

Szymon Nehring is widely regarded as one of the most gifted pianists of his generation. In 2017, he became the only Pole to win First Prize at the Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Competition, and at just 19 was a finalist at the International Chopin Piano Competition.

He has appeared with leading orchestras including Sinfonia Varsovia, the Warsaw Philharmonic, the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Bamberger Symphoniker, the Hamburger Symphoniker, and the Israel Symphony Orchestra, collaborating with conductors such as John Axelrod, Karina Canellakis, Pablo Heras-Casado, David Zinman, and the late Krzysztof Penderecki, with whom he also recorded Penderecki’s Piano Concerto.

Nehring has performed in major venues worldwide, among them Carnegie Hall, the Musikverein in Vienna, the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, Tonhalle Zürich, and the Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona.

His discography includes numerous solo and orchestral recordings, notably Chopin’s two Piano Concertos conducted by Penderecki. During the 2024/25 season, he releases a new minimalist album and the first volume of a multi-season Chopin solo works cycle for the Chopin Institute in Warsaw. Upcoming engagements include performances at Bozar in Brussels, Hamburg’s Laeiszhalle, and La Seine Musicale in Paris, as well as Szymanowski’s Symphony No. 4 with the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra under Marin Alsop.

Nehring studied in Kraków before graduating with distinction from the Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz, where he later pursued doctoral studies. He completed his Artist Diploma at Yale University under Boris Berman and has been a recipient of the Krystian Zimerman Scholarship since 2015.
