The Elmore Quartet have earned a reputation as one of the leading British quartets of their generation. They won the 74th Royal Overseas League International Music Competition and are Hans Keller Chamber Fellows at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. They are regular performers on BBC Radio 3 at the Wigmore Hall, as well as major venues in Europe.
For their debut album, the Elmore Quartet have chosen a new work by Leo Geyer, and this framed by Haydn’s invigorating Op.74/1 and Shostakovich’s late 13th quartet from 1969/70, cast in single movement and which features a twelve-tone opening – a rarity in Shostakovich’s music.
